Luke Burns started climbing trees at three years old and has never really stopped! Over the years, his passion for heights and adrenalin has influenced his career paths and hobbies. After leaving school, he joined the NZ Defence Force as a Field Engineer, where he cross-trained in a wide range of engineering tasks, including demolition, bridge building, mine clearance and construction techniques. In the army, Luke gained valuable insight into how individuals worked effectively as a team while having fun.Luke first applied his industrial rope access education swinging from buildings in Wellington. From there, he further refined his advanced rigging skills in the gas and oil industry, where he worked on large projects for companies like Woodside and Shell. This experience gave him the unique ability to manage high-risk jobs safely and methodically.
Even though Luke loved this work and all the adventures, the time had come for him to spend more time at home with his beautiful wife and two amazing children. In 2020, he decided to get back to his roots of climbing trees and Lukes TreeWalkers was established. With his strong connection with nature, becoming a NZQA Certified Arborist was a natural transition. Based in Paraparaumu, Luke provides a comprehensive range of tree services to customers from Tawa to Levin. Luke has a NZ Certificate in Arboriculture Services - Level 4, and Industrial Rope Access Trade Association - Level 3 qualifications.
